Why Is Respite Care Important?

Caring for your loved one can be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do, but it can also be one of the most demanding.

Respite care is an important service to use. It ensures that you can enjoy some downtime whilst safe in the knowledge your loved one is receiving the care they need.

Some caregivers support people with tasks like cleaning or shopping, whilst some take on a full-time role. Whatever you need, our professional respite service can help you.

What is respite care?

Respite care is designed to relieve caregivers of their responsibilities. You can use the time to have some downtime, catch-up with friends or wind-down on holiday. The choice is yours, but rest-assured, your loved one is in safe hands.

Respite care means that your loved ones can receive the care they need, in the comfort of their own home. One of our carers can support your loved one with various tasks and activities – including housework, personal care, administering medication, cooking and mobility support. A member of our dedicated team can also be there for emotional support, so you never have to worry about your loved one being lonely when you’re not there.

Allowing you to build a strong bond with your carer is extremely important to us. Our carers work closely with you to ensure you know and trust the carers you allow into your loved one’s home.

We also offer a bespoke service that is tailored to your needs. We can offer packages from 30-minute visits to full-time live-in care. This means that we work around your and your loved ones’ schedules, to ensure we’re there when you need us the most.

Importance of respite care

If you’re a caregiver, you’ll know that caring for a loved one can be both physically and mentally draining. Regular breaks are beneficial for you and your loved one, and we’re here to help make those breaks as stress-free as possible.

Respite care can be arranged as soon as you need it, even in last-minute emergency situations. If you are ever in the situation between a personal emergency and needing to provide care, we will offer a solution. We can arrange specialist care within 24 hours, or even quicker in a crisis situation.

Respite care for people with care needs

At Minster Home Care, we provide full training and information on all our policies and procedures to each member of staff. Our team are dedicated and passionate, with experience in supporting people with a wide range of health conditions including dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

Many of our carers undergo additional training so they’re fully equipped to support people with particular care needs. This means you can have full confidence in our service, and you’ll be safe in the knowledge that your loved one is receiving the right care.

Why is respite good for friends and families?

Letting someone else take over the care role for your loved one can be a stressful and overwhelming concept. However, taking regular breaks is as important as the care you provide. Respite care is beneficial to both yourself and your loved one – you’ll return back to your duties relaxed and confident that they’ve received the right care. Your loved one will also feel happy that they’ve been supported by a dedicated individual who only wants to provide the best care they can.
